Nov 6 - Roy Hurd returns to the Palmer Street Coffeehouse

Palmer Street Coffeehouse sets the stage for the CD release of Roy Hurd's 13th album, "Chronicles From The Love Shack, on Friday April 3, 2008. In the years Roy has been performing, Roy has played his brand of mountain music nationally, and has developed a following unparalleled in the Adirondack Mountains. Roy's song Adirondack Blue has become a modern-day Adirondack anthem, and his recordings are regional best sellers.
Adirondack Life magazine says, "Roy Hurd is the best known singer and song-writer in the Adirondacks." His appeal lies as much in his storytelling as it does in his smooth delivery. The force of his belief is in the gentleness of his delivery"". Friends of Folk Music and The Java Jive Coffeehouse say, "He's the Adirondacks" favorite song-writer. His dynamic style is addicting and the energy he shares is powerful".

"Chronicles From The Love Shack" is Roy's thirteenth recording to date. This powerful, full band, CD was produced by, and recorded with, Nashville based production company NV Entertainment. These cutting edge studio session players, including Roy's Nephew Tully Kennedy, helped Roy lay down ten incredible tracks that rock and move with style, passion and an immeasurable amount of heart.

From 1990 to 2001, Roy held a staff songwriting position in Nashville, writing for two of the largest publishing companies in the world: Sony Music Publishing and Warner/Chappell Music. Roy has written deftly crafted commercial country hits recorded by the likes of Paul Brant, David Kersh, Sonya Isaacs, The Oak Ridge Boys, Duane Steele, and The Gibson Brothers. Jo Dee Messina has recorded one of Roy's songs, "Nothing I Can Do," on her platinum Curb Records release "Burn." However, Roy's magic is in the songs he records himself. "Adirondack Rain," his latest album is inspired by the beauty, the strength, and power of the Adirondacks.

Singer songwriters Celia Evans and Bruce Brough will be the opening act for the evening.
