On Saturday, February 11th at 7:00p.m., Second Saturday Cinema presents Woody Allen's 2011 film: Midnight in Paris. This film stars Owen Wilson as a Hollywood screenwriter on a pre-wedding trip to Paris with his fiance and her parents. Facing the shortcomings of his upcoming marriage, he finds himself taking late night strolls in Paris with unexpected results. Widely thought to be Allen's best film in years, it recently won a Golden Globe Award for Best Screenplay and just received four Academy Award nominations for Best Picture, Best Direction, Best Original Screenplay and Best Art Direction.
Roger Ebert gave the film 3½ stars out of four. He ended his review with this quote:
"This is Woody Allen's 41st film. He writes his films himself, and directs them with wit and grace. I consider him a treasure of the cinema. Some people take him for granted, although Midnight in Paris reportedly charmed even the jaded veterans of the Cannes press screenings. There is nothing to dislike about it. Either you connect with it or not. I'm wearying of movies that are for "everybody" – which means, nobody in particular. Midnight in Paris is for me, in particular, and that's just fine with moi."
Presented as a community service, Second Saturday Cinema is a public showcase for classic, thought-provoking, and fun movies. Our little theater features a large screen and Dolby Digital sound. Like most SSC presentations, we are not allowed to publicly advertise this film's title, so please help spread the word.
There is NO admission fee, and reasonably-priced snacks and drinks are available.
Doors open at 6:30 p.m; lights dim at 7:00 p.m.
