On Saturday, March 9th at 7:00p.m., Second Saturday Cinema continues its 2012-13 season with this year's Academy Award Winner for Best Documentary Feature: Searching for Sugar Man. This 2012 film is an incredible true story of Rodriguez, the greatest '70s rock icon who never was. Decades after Detroit singer-songwriter Rodriguez disappeared following the failure of his two critically praised records in the 1970s, two fans from South Africa, where Rodriguez was a huge hit, try to track down their idol.
Roger Ebert of the Chicago Sun Times wrote, "I hope you're able to see this film. You deserve to. And yes, it exists because we need for it to."
Peter Travers of Rolling Stone wrote, Searching for Sugar Man is a fresh and unexpected documentary that plays like a nail-biting mystery and a ticket to ride the whirlwind where art and commerce do battle."
